new-bare arrives march 1st
welcome to dreams of tomorrow
Welcome to Dreams of Tomorrow: A semi-literate warriors RPG! We are a lake-based warriors RPG, set several generations after The Broken Code and A Starless Clan, and featuring the four original Clans; the fifth Clan, SkyClan; and two unique rogue Clans: Yijiao and Viperion! We are an established (LGBTQ+ friendly) community, with Dreams of Tomorrow first posting in 2017.
LEAF-BARE
A cold wind blows over the lake, and a layer of snow covers the ground, added to by a constant flurry of fresh snowfall from clouds. Frost lingers on all remaining plant life, and whatever prey is caught is skinny, and hard to find. Cats become more protective of their territories with resources so scarce, and medicine cats fear that they will have to treat wounds alongside the constant threat of greencough.

the drama
After the era of LeopardClan, Icestar's return to power, and his subsequent death, peace has largely returned to the lake. While most of the Clans celebrate this, there are a few cats, both living and dead, who still feel the Clans are being steered in the wrong direction. Concerningly, some shadowy spirits are eager to help the Clans put things right, by way of living warriors - their successors, if you will. These cats are learning from the history of those now gone, and learning from their mistakes before they take their turn at leaving their mark around the lake.
Vendetta, upon the discovery of one his past paramours and oldest friends bleeding out, and mutilated beyond belief on his throne, has had a fire lit under him in regards to his group and the way that he runs things. The monarch of Viperion was on a warpath, and no one is innocent, nor safe, from Viperion's wrath until the culprit is found. Even upon Vendetta's death, Regina has carried on with his path of violence and revenge, and it seems no cat is safe until the culprit is found, regardless of what blood is spilt in the meantime.

Recent Happenings The cold chill in the air has ThunderClan on guard and ready to prepare for a harsh approaching leaf-bare. The Clan will find this season harsh, with many elders now to provide for, as well as a constant stream of kits who always seem to be hungry. Hollystar and Cinnamonroll are carefully structuring their patrols to make sure every cat is fed. Basilheart is already fretful, with her paws busy taking care of a terribly ill Moonlight, whose mysterious illness doesn't seem to be lightening up. Basilheart and Vixenpaw frantically tend to their supplies of catmint and other useful herbs, worried about how the Clan will cope with so many old and young kits who will be vulverable to greencough.
Those In Charge Hollystar is a proud and confident ThunderClan leader, one who takes ThunderClan's values to heart. She values reason and logic in all her decisions. A very cheerful cat, Sombermoon always looking to keep things calm and enjoyable, does the best he can to be neutral and reach fair, though sometimes firm, conflict resolution. Basilheart is a kind and soft medicine cat, with a deep connection to StarClan. She cherishes her Clanmates and works hard to make sure that they all stay happy and healthy. Vixenpaw is a medicine apprentice who has a gift for communicating with StarClan. She isn't afraid to be sassy with those who test her patience.
Bans and Encouragements ThunderClan is a Clan that's fairly even in numbers, though a bit on the larger side, and with a bit of a gender gap. Age dispersion is well managed across the Clan, though new elders are currently highly discouraged due to the sheer number of them. Litters are currently open in ThunderClan, though with a note to keep an eye on age dispersion. Genders are a bit unbalanced in ThunderClan currently, with she-cats outnumbering the toms, which has lead to a soft-ban on new ThunderClan she-cats for the time being. But, as always, nonbinary cats are very appreciated.

Recent Happenings After the turbulent leafbare that ShadowClan suffered with mass losses, Maplestar thought that she was finally in the clear as leafbare rolled around. However, as more cars started turning up dead at the borders seemingly to rogue attacks, ShadowClan's former deputy Redflower lost the last bit of control she had and aimed to kill Maplestar. Failing in doing this, she was sentenced to public execution. Maplestar, aging and distrustful, now keeps a sharp watch over her clan to stomp out any last bits of unrest and betrayal before they happen, and has a new deputy to help her retain power. Scarletfang, Redflower's own daughter, has risen to the challenge of helping Maplestar keep ShadowClan on the path to power. Icestar continues making moves from the afterlife, and more strange faces keep showing up in the camp. It's turbulent times in ShadowClan, one only hopes they'll pull through in one piece. However, they might just have a leg up in advantage over other clans as Maplestar makes a deal with an outsider in secrecy...
Those In Charge Maplestar has settled into her role as leader quite nicely, and is keeping up the same traits that Icestar had ShadowClan known for: strong and fearless. Scarletfang is a fierce deputy, but has tamed since the passing of her mother. Regardless, she guides strictly and without hesitation. Rowanspirit is a quiet tom who is highly observant, and takes his duty quite seriously, but has a deep love of life, his Clan, and StarClan.
Bans and Encouragements ShadowClan is a group that is reasonably balanced in numbers, though with a large gender divide. Ages are fairly well balanced in ShadowClan, but elders are encouraged, due to the near absence of them in the Clan. New litters in ShadowClan are momentarily discouraged until the current batch of kits has a chance to grow up a bit, and allow an age balance. Toms are highly encouraged in ShadowClan at the moment, due to the heavy lean toward she-cats, leading to new ShadowClan she-cats to be currently soft-banned. Though nonbinary cats are always welcome.

Recent Happenings Deciding enough is enough, Turtlestar has closed the borders on her clan to allow them a chance to rebuild and become unified without the interference of other clans. Ryewhisker and Flowerpaw are still allowed to come and go as they please, but Turtlestar keeps a small band for traveling to gatherings. She has a sharp and keen eye on the rogue warriors the clan had taken in within recent moons, and is ready to give judgement should it be needed. For now, she is accepting no new cats from outside her own clan. Loners seeking sanctuary are turned away at the border for another clan, and those who wish to leave her borders in favor of another clan are allowed, but must never look back. Shadewhisker has recently retired as well, having an unexpected illness plague him and keep him from being able to perform his duties. In his stead, Turtlestar has named Lilydawn WindClan's new deputy. The clan are antsy with the many changes, but Turtlestar remains a fierce and guarded leader, guiding her clan back to unity and strength.
Those In Charge Having come into her own, Turtlestar reigns with beauty and grace. Her leadership is firm, yet fair. Though cautious, she remains peaceful. Lilydawn is settling into her position as deputy with ease and is incredibly driven. Sweet yet firm, she guides with warmth and confidence. Flowerpaw is a gentle, compassionate medicine cat with an empathetic healing ability and an unshakable faith.
Bans and Encouragements WindClan is currently the smallest Clan around the lake, with a high need for more cats. Age divides are fairly balanced among warriors and senior warriors, but there is a need for new kits and new apprentices in the Clan. Litters are currently encouraged in WindClan. Genders are fairly balanced in WindClan, with a small lead to she-cats, but both genders are very encouraged. Nonbinary cats are also certainly very welcome.

news | leadership | bans
Recent Happenings As Blackstar settles into the role he was thrust into overnight with Mintheart and Ripplepool at his shoulder, RiverClan is aiming to see a time of peace within it's borders. However, as the leafbare snow melts away to allow newleaf flowers to push through, RiverClan's territory has swelled up and proved to have devastating consequences in the form of floods. Many cats were lost, but RiverClan has bounced back to be as strong as they once were. Blackstar is confident of the moons to follow, and he plans on playing his cards wisely.
Those In Charge Though young and new to his leadership duties, Blackstar is eager and confident in his ability to follow in his predecessor's pawsteps. He is determined to prove himself and lead RiverClan to become a strong and united force while keeping RiverClan's values in the forefront. Despite her tragedy, Mintheart is rising to the challenge of being a competent deputy and is working towards organization to make RiverClan a well-run Clan. Ripplepool is a quiet and thoughtful medicine cat with a knack for herbs and great sympathy for others.
Bans and Encouragements RiverClan is currently the largest Clan around the lake, and one with a very large gender imbalance, so new characters permitted will be very limited. Ages are fairly well balanced at the moment, though young apprentices and kits are currently highly discouraged due to the sheer number of them. Litters are currently soft-banned in RiverClan, until ages are balanced out and other Clans can catch up in number. Genders are severely unbalanced in RiverClan, with she-cats dramatically outnumbering toms, leading to a ban on new she-cat characters. However, toms and non-binary cats may be permitted with staff consultation.
skyclan
news | leadership | bans
Recent Happenings SkyClan is, like their neighbors around the lake, preparing for many moons of hard times with an upcoming leaf-bare. Tanysight is gathering herbs in preparation for illness, with whispers of warning from her StarClan guides. Fallenstar and Nettleheart are organizing patrols carefully, hoping to keep the Clan well fed during the coldest, hungriest seasons. However, that is not all that is on their mind. After all, several SkyClan cats have gone missing, and though Duneleopard's return has been a comfort, there is still mystery as to why their cats have left, and where they could have gone.
Those In Charge Fallenstar is a young but dedicated leader, ready to work hard to serve her Clan well. She holds her own in a fight, but will always stop to listen to those in need. Nettleheart is a strong SkyClan deputy, who's proud of his Clan and firm in his choices. Tansysight is a quiet and secluded medicine cat, but incredibly gifted with her connection to StarClan.
Bans and Encouragements SkyClan is currently a well balanced Clan in numbers, though with a bit of a gender disbalance. Ages are fairly well balanced, though there is a need for more warriors of various ages to help with surpluses of kits becoming apprentices. However, young warriors are slightly discouraged at the moment, to help balance ages in the Clan. Litters are currently open in SkyClan. Genders are just a little off-balance in SkyClan, with a need for toms to help catch up in number to the she-cats. Though nonbinary cats are always welcome.
yijiao
news | leadership | bans
Recent Happenings Helfeirch and Carnivore have proven their ferocity around the lake as their power continues to grow and their contracts continue to raise. It's only a matter of time before they start to branch out and make themselves more known, but with a God as the son of a famous nightmare around the lake and another God trailing after a she-cat, rogues and loners around the lake wonder how their relationship is going to end up playing out. Despite that, Yijiao has had it's own fair share of problems, suffering from the same bought of greencough as the rest of the lake and even seeing a smidge of murder and unrest in their ranks.
Those In Charge Yijiao is run by the Teller, a dual commander and spiritual leader, and their right hand is the vice. Helfeirch is a strong and passionate Teller, who reveres the gods but doesn't tolerate those who skip out on work. Carnivore, while young and new to the position, is shaping up to be a ruthless and efficient future Teller.
Bans and Encouragements Though smaller than the Clans, Yijiao is reasonably balanced in their numbers at this point in time. Age groups are fairly even, with a good dispersion in all age groups. Assassins also have a lead on numbers compared to bounty hunters. Litters in Yijiao are currently open. Toms are also encouraged to help catch up in number to she-cats, who currently lead the gender gap. Nonbinary cats, however, are certainly always welcome.
viperion
news | leadership | bans
Recent Happenings Chaos has once again returned to Viperion as they find yet another one of their monarchs dead, and from brutal circumstances. Regina has swooped in to take his place - her place - and is excersising her authority in Viperion, making it clear she is now the cat to fear. She has retained Vendetta's royalty, but expanded to include cats of her own, further extending her authority upon the others. But Vendetta's presence is not completly gone from Viperion, as his plans for revenge live on. Regina is carrying on her predecessor's work, sending trusted cats into the Clans to spy for her, and feed her crucial information for a future encounter.
Those In Charge Viperion is ruled by the monarch, and their right hand is the lieutenant. Regina is an intelligent and brutal monarch who's deadset on making sure the legacy of Drought and Viperion lives on. Strategy is the name of her game. Outsiders are currently under heavy scrutiny, unless they are vouched for by a trustworthy cat currently within Viperion's ranks.
Bans and Encouragements Though Viperion is smaller than the Clans, they are fairly well balanced in numbers. Ages are fairly diverse, though there is currently a heavy encouragement for new characters 40 moons and older due to the gap of ages. Young fighters are also discouraged due to the recent flood of them. However, kits and cadets are welcome, and litters are open in Viperion. Genders are currently fairly balanced, with a slight favoring towards toms, though nonbinary cats are always welcome.

THE FIRST SHADOWCLAN-SKYCLAN BATTLE
ShadowClan and SkyClan had been mostly at peace for moons, but there were the occasional border skirmishes and arguements that went out of hand. However, when tensions began to rise, these usually had to be stopped by a leader or a deputy - just a warrior, even a senior warrior, wouldn't cut it. Lichenstar and Thistlestar had always been tense around each other, being of similar ages, and having been effectively rivals as apprentices and warriors, even as deputies, but they usually kept things cordial.
These tense, though non-violent exchanges stopped the moment Lichenstar lost her mate in a rogue attack. The hot-headed leader became even worse, taking everything said to her as an insult or an invitation to fight, and border skirmishes with SkyClan were now leading to injury, some very severe. After several moons of these skirmishes, Lichenstar lost patience and all sense of diplomacy, and launched an attack against SkyClan. This attack turned into the largest, and bloodiest battle that the Clans had seen in generations, and would change the balance and relationship the two Clans shared with each other for moons to follow.
The battle was extremely bloody, and there were quite a few deaths on both sides. SkyClan weren't prepared for the attack, and SkyClan cats were everywhere with ShadowClan swarming upon them. Young apprentices were ordered to stay out of the fray, and escort the elders, queens and the kits away from fighting, and to somewhere safer. SkyClan could thank StarClan that ShadowClan didn't seem to be going after them, so they were safely evacuated. However, older apprentices and warriors were fighting as hard as they could to defend their home against this attack.
Even the leaders were fighting as hard as they could. Thistlestar was being swarmed by many cats, the powerful and experienced warrior being a very strong opponent. The SkyClan deputy, Coalstorm, had engaged Lichenstar, and though younger than her, the muscular tom was proving to a good match-up for her. Then the accident appeared, Coalstorm pushed Lichenstar too hard, and the impact of her head against stone killed her. Coalstorm was horrified, having not intended to kill her. Though it was observed that minutes later, Lichenstar awoke, having lost a life, but not her last. Coalstorm turned tail and ran into battle against others, and Lichenstar allowed him, not wanting to engage him again.
It was in this battle than Lichenstar's deputy, Burrtail, lost his life. He fought until his wounds became too much for him, and he bled out. Lichenstar was devasted, but it seemed as if fate was calling. It was sundown, and with the death of her deputy - she was forced to name her new one. She named Icemask, her former apprentice and an ambitious warrior. This was probably the worst choice she'd made, but that story is for another day. He was a trusted warrior of hers, and he clearly had the best for ShadowClan in mind - according to her, anyway.
Unknown to everyone, and this fact would remain hidden to all except the one who executed it, Icemask had ambitions to be leader for a long time now, and saw his chance to strike. He didn't quite know how many lives Lichenstar had left, but he was ready to rip all that remained out if he had to. It was a battle, and Lichenstar had already lost one. Who was to say she wouldn't lose a few more. Icemask went in for the kill, pouncing on top of Lichenstar and pinning her down. In the heat of battle, no cats saw the battle between ShadowClan's leader and deputy, or the way he lunged for her throat. Depending on how many times he had to do so, it would look like a SkyClan cat attacked her.
It seemed luck was on Icemask's side, and the life he took from Lichenstar was her last. Now it was time to put on a show, letting out a yowl of horror as he pretended to stumble across the dead Lichenstar, who was not moving, and the two Clans watched as Lichenstar still wasn't moving for a long time. It was done. The great Lichenstar, was gone. With the death of Burrtail, and now Lichenstar, ShadowClan turned to Icemask for leadership. With this, Icemask decided to call for a retreat - it had been Lichenstar who'd launched the attack after all, and the ShadowClan cats picked up their dead and injured cats, and left SkyClan to return to their own home.
This battle was the first of many battles between ShadowClan and SkyClan to come, and it is based on this battle, that so many of them in the future are fought.

THE CREATION OF YIJIAO
Yijiiao found its start many moons before the start of Dreams of Tomorrow's in-site timeline, from the most unlikely origins. It all began with a lost kittypet she-kit named Helfreich, who strayed from home on a misguided adventure, only to find her way to a series of underground tunnels. Helfeirch wandered, lost, and when she finally emerged, she found herself a new cat. She could never fit in with her kittypet life at home any longer, and barely old enough to leave her mother's side, the young she-cat wandered through the forest, and into the realms of twolegplace and the alleys where stray cats scavenged to survive.
As the young Helfeirch roamed the streets, she learned from the other cats the existence of two cats, who seemed almost supernatural in their fighting abilities. Intrigued, Helfeirch worked to learn more about these mysterious cats who seemed to both terrify and amaze the local cats of the twolegplace. One cat was called De, and Helfeirch listened closely as he was described to her: horribly battle scared, small and vicious, black and white with his pelt frequently covered in the blood of his enemies. The young she-cat was also interested in the stories of Maccheroncelli, a massive cat who was often described as De's shadow, equally as vicious, but with a charming air that lured cats towards him. Both cats had come from somewhere far away, and did not stand for anything in their path. Could such cats really exist, or were they simply the overactive imaginations of hungry strays? But Helfeirch was determined to learn more.
All of the young cat's questions were answered one day, creeping along the alleyways until she spotted two cats. One was insignificant, not worth note, but the other was unmistakable. A glossy black and white tom, his body covered in vicious scars and his muscles rippling as he lunged at the other cat and tore it's throat out without hesitation, without giving the other a chance for resistance. He only paused long enough to clean his claws before he left the scene as mysteriously as a ghost. It was then that Helfeirch knew that the legends of De and Maccheroncelli were more than myth. These cats seemed to be gods to the cats of twolegplace, and to Helfeirch herself.
Inspired by her encounter with one of the pair, Helfeirch, though still young, rallied the cats around her, those who knew of De and Maccheroncelli, or wanted to learn of their ways. These cats already had traditions, superstitions, ways of life ... Helfeirch only needed to give them the reason to unite ... a leader to rally around. The cats learned to accept the young queen as their leader, who claimed to speak of De and Maccheroncelli's will, and who organized their ways of life in record time. Helfeirch organized her cats into two groups, inspired by De and Maccheroncelli themselves, with some cats bounty hunters, dedicated to hunting cats down and bringing them to whoever set their bounty; and assassins, who's job was to find a cat, and to finish them. The cats of twolegplace accepted these rules, following Helfeirch's command, and their new structure. And, they accepted the name she set aside for them: Yijiao.
But living in twolegplace was proving to have set-backs for the group who's society was becoming more organized by the day. They were more than a band of strays now, they were a cult who needed a proper stronghold, a true place to operate. The answer came to Helfeirch almost as quickly as the question had formed. The tunnels, the origin on this whole story. The group moved swiftly, taking their entire group into the underground tunnels, settling underground besides an underground lake. The tunnels provided them endless places to move above ground, and endless clients who approached from every side, hoping for their contracts to be filled. And, among it all, was the teller, waiting for signs of the gods.

THE CREATION OF VIPERION
The history of Viperion has always been steeped in blood. It began in a forest far removed from the lake; an isolated territory wrapped in power struggles of its own. Here, in a rotted-out tree stump, a rogue mother gave birth to a litter of two kittens. The pair of them were like yin and yang; a little black female with white splotches and a larger white tom with black patches. But their mother had no interest in rearing kits, and she kicked them out of her den when they were still young and unable to care for themselves. The tom, Drought, tried to protect his sister, Deluge. Despite his brave intentions, however, they were two small kits in a vast dangerous forest. Drought became separated from his sister. Alone and terrified, he fed on half-rotten carrion while struggling to survive. He had some close calls with predators; one of these encounters drove him into the territory of the local ruling group, a lawless gang of rogues known as DeathClan.
This was where Drought got his start, albeit not an easy one. The pseudo-Clan became a strange, violent, sort of adopted family for him. He learned survival skills through observation, getting in more than his fair share of scuffles along the way. The future monarch hadn't always excel in combat. Far from it, in fact -- there were many times in his youth when he came out of fights with serious wounds and battered pride. But he learned. Drought grew up, put in his time at the training hollow where cats fought with claws sometimes sheathed, and most importantly, he didn't make the same mistakes twice.
It was perhaps inevitable that he started getting involved in the gang's politics once he was old enough to be taken seriously. There were wars against other groups, but when they didn't have a common enemy, DeathClan were mostly tangled up with infighting. Leaders came and went like the seasons. Some didn't even last that long. For his part, Drought was working his way up, gaining allies and taking down those who opposed him. He was deeply unhappy with the group's leadership. Sure, he would have been content to serve as a lackey, but the fact that nobody could hold the position of leader was damaging to DeathClan's status. The gang had become a laughingstock -- everyone knew they weren't to be taken seriously; they could barely keep themselves together, let alone form a coherent enough force to threaten other groups. So Drought took matters into his own paws.
He seized the crown by force and established himself as DeathClan's new monarch, with a small circle of dedicated followers. Perhaps not everyone in the gang was pleased by this, but they accepted it, and so his reign began. Drought led those cats for countless moons. They expanded their influence over neighboring lands, warded off attackers, and conquered many challenges. It was a golden age. Then... things changed. A close ally of Drought's turned traitor, which allowed other local groups to gain footholds again. He struggled to maintain control. Unfortunately, the damage was done - his gang had suffered a major blow, and on top of that, there were murmurs of revolt among his ranks. Drought worked tirelessly to bring things back to the way they were, whilst attempting to quell the minor uprisings, but it didn't work. A rival returned to liberate the gang from his control, and the self-proclaimed king rose to the challenge. Just when Drought thought he'd almost won, however, his oldest friend stepped in… and betrayed him.
The ex-monarch barely managed to flee with his life, injured and alone. There was nothing left for him in his old domain, and nothing to do but keep running. So he came to the lake for a chance to start again. Drought settled down in an unclaimed stretch of land not far beyond the Clans. He chose to live in a secluded grove of trees, where he carved out a den among the roots of a massive pine, just as he'd done when he first became a king. It was almost as if he could look at his new home and pretend that nothing had ever changed. Here, he could lick his wounds in peace.
But Drought was never the sort who could cut their losses and settle down to live out their twilight years quietly. Rumors reached him of an underground band of assassins. He started running jobs for them, killing targets for profit -- and, alright, maybe for his own entertainment as well. It wasn't a bad life. Perhaps, in a different time, he could have even found a home with Yijiao. Except... their worship of living gods rubbed his fur the wrong way. Reputation alone could not make a cat immortal. It was foolish to believe that. These deities were flesh and blood; they would die like any other cat if he sank his teeth into their throats. This, he knew to be true. Frustrated and slightly regretful that things couldn't work out, the ex-monarch left Yijiao and returned to his home under the great tree.
The more he thought about it, the more Drought hated what his life had become. He was no common rogue. He'd had that taste of power, of being the one who pulls all the strings, slowly building a world where everything was exactly as it should be. And that had been torn from him. The cats in DeathClan who betrayed him had been wrong; those in Yijiao who refused to see sense in his ideals were wrong. He would make things right. In that moment, Viperion was born.

THE CLANS JUST BEFORE THE START OF PLAY
ThunderClan | ThunderClan had been peaceful for many moons. Their leader, Nightstar, never bothered with other Clans affairs, focusing on his own Clan. As he got older, his state of mind grew weaker, and it was his very young deputy, Willowblossom, who was taking on more and more duties of leadership instead of him. When he eventually passed, it was a relief to the Clans. Willowblossom became Willowstar, and named Hollypool as her deputy. Things were relatively peaceful until the moon before Icestar's Conquest began - when their medicine cat died of illness, and left no apprentice behind. With no medicine cat, and a tough leaf-bare leaving many cats weakened, ThunderClan is at a huge loss and disadvantage should they ever come to blows.
ShadowClan | Following the first ShadowClan-SkyClan battle, ShadowClan's history turns comparatively quiet and peaceful, compared the the war that had raged beforehand. Icestar took up leadership of the Clan after Lichenstar was killed in the battle, and spent many of his first moons organizing the Clan to suite his leadership. He named an ambitious but respected she-cat named Mapledream to be his deputy. In the leaf-fall proceeding and the leaf-bare that takes place in the plot Icestar's Conquest ShadowClan did not suffer the same hardships of the other Clans, somehow managing to find enough prey to not go hungry. Unlike the other Clans, they did not lose any cats to disease or to hunger.
WindClan | Among the five Clans, WindClan has had one of the quietest histories before the start of play on Dreams of Tomorrow. WindClan's leader, Brackenstar, ruled for several long seasons, a respectable tom who maintained peace in WindClan for many moons. There were no notable battles between WindClan and any other Clan, a sign to Brackenstar's diplomacy and neutral stance on any other quarrels. However, peace does not befall a Clan forever, and one day the WindClan camp found themselves being attacked by a band of rats, possibly introduced outside of WindClan's territory. Though the Clan was able to fight them off, Brackenstar was injured, and only a few days later, died from a wound that grew infected and did not respond to treatment. The Clan grieved Brackenstar, heartbroken by his death, but turned to Flamestar to take up leadership in his place, and she worked hard doing just that, maintaining WindClan's neutral stance.
RiverClan | RiverClan has had a peaceful history just before the site's in-play timeline begins. The past few leaf-bares, RiverClan has suffered with epidemics of whitecough and greencough, and even a few cases of blackcough, leading to the death of several cats. The Clan's leadership recently faced a shake-up as well, as Stormstar, and her faithful deputy Roseshade, both were replaced in ranks, for one reason or another. Roseshade, in their old age, decided to retire to the elder's den, and the young warrior Frostedskies was appointed as her replacement. Still a leader with many moons of life in her, it was a shock when Stormstar was killed by a monster on the thunderpath only five moons into Frostedskies' deputyship, leaving the young tom as the new and fairly unprepared leader. He appointed Foxtrot, his former mentor, to succeed him as deputy. In the leaf-bare that begins in the plot Icestar's Conquest, RiverClan faced a hard leaf-bare, with an outbreak of greencough once more, and the death of many cats.
SkyClan | After the battle that ShadowClan initiated, SkyClan recovered under their leader, Thistlestar. Though tensions with ShadowClan were still extremely tense, no battles followed, kept firmly under reign by Thistlestar and his deputy, Coalstorm. For the next following moons, SkyClan was peaceful, sticking to themselves, until their leader died. Coalstorm was named Coalstar, and with him as leader, tensions began to skyrocket as the grudge and rivalry between Coalstar and the ShadowClan leader, Icestar, were set alight. Coalstar named a senior warrior named Tumbleberry as his deputy. Prey is returning, but the tension around the borders is getting worse and worse as moons go by, and many cats are wondering just when another battle with ShadowClan will happen again.

ICESTAR'S CONQUEST & LEOPARDCLAN'S EXILE
Every cat around the lake has heard the nursery tales of Tigerstar, the leader of old, who wanted power so badly that he defied StarClan's will to create an alliance of Clans. The resulting TigerClan nearly succeeded in taking over the entire forest. Nearly, but not quite.
Icestar, the bloodthirsty leader of ShadowClan, was never satisfied with the power he had. And those old legends made him curious. If Tigerstar was able to get as far as he did... well, learning from his mistakes, it might very well be possible to succeed where he had failed. The thought tempted him, and his closest followers agreed: Leopardstrike, his beloved mate; and Mapledream, his trusted deputy. They whispered ideas to him, egging him on and lending their support.
Somewhere along the line, Icestar decided that he could actually pull off. After all, Frostedstar was a known pacifist, and Icestar had been itching for an excuse to reignite the conflict with SkyClan. All he needed was enough momentum, and then nobody could stop him.
He would call it LeopardClan, in Leopardstrike's honor.
The day of the gathering, Icestar called his Clan together for a meeting, ensuring every cat was there before he delivered the news he would be sharing that night. Today would be their last day as merely ShadowClan. Tonight was the birth of LeopardClan, a combination of Clans stronger than any group to have ever existed before. Some cats didn't look happy, but plenty of warriors promised to fight for this cause, as they were loyal ShadowClan cats, and this was their duty. Regardless of the reason, Icestar had their support, and he knew they would fight to make this happen.
That evening, Icestar lead his patrol of ShadowClan cats to the island, allowing them to disperse as normal as he made his way up the great oak. Once the gathering had been called together, Icestar made his announcement of the creation of LeopardClan, a new united Clan in the forest, born from ShadowClan. He had every cat's interest, either due to excitement or disgust, but they all listened with rapt attention. Icestar then prompted his fellow leaders for their opinions on LeopardClan, offering them the chance to join at once, or to give their answer in one moon at the following gathering.
Icestar had anticipated that each leader would argue, or that they would decline to give their answer until the next gathering, after having had time to think and discuss matters with their Clans. However, many cats were surprised when Frostedstar, leader of RiverClan, called a discussion with his deputy, medicine cat, and brother, then agreed to join LeopardClan on the spot. RiverClan's nursery was filled with kits, including his own, and it was clear he feared for them, and had decided to protect them from any potential retribution. Icestar accepted him respectfully, though the rest of RiverClan was generally quite bitter. Coalstar of SkyClan and Flamestar of WindClan flat out scorned the idea of LeopardClan, but Willowstar of ThunderClan agreed to give her answer at the following gathering.
It was at the next gathering that Icestar inquired as to the other leaders' decisions regarding LeopardClan. Willowstar agreed to have ThunderClan join LeopardClan, which made her and all the warriors miserable, but there really was no choice. They had no medicine cat after the death of their last one, and risking battle could potentially wipe them out. But Icestar cared not for the reason, only the fact that they had joined and would not be leaving any time soon. ThunderClan cats were treated with the same respect as RiverClan. Icestar began integrating ThunderClan into LeopardClan at once.
After uniting three Clans under his leadership, some moons of peace followed, though every cat knew this ordeal was far from over. Icestar was feeling quite sure of himself and his massive LeopardClan forces, and grew confident enough to switch from simply warning WindClan and SkyClan to threatening them outright. ThunderClan had joined moons ago, and was well integrated by this point, and it was time to add another Clan, whether they wanted to join or not. At the next gathering, Icestar demanded that WindClan and SkyClan either surrender to LeopardClan or be taken by force. Coalstar and Flamestar defied Icestar openly, but the cats in the clearing below were disturbed by the lack of clouds covering the moon. Icestar boasted that StarClan supported his rule, and promised that if he did not receive word of surrender soon, he would come for them.
Icestar made good on his promise, starting first with WindClan. He attacked them in the dead of night, and the outnumbered Clan fought hard, but simply could not hold out against so many cats. An apprentice made for SkyClan at top speed, but Coalstar could only bring reinforcements so fast. Though Icestar had ordered for there to be no unnecessary killing, and for no kits to be injured, as they were all future LeopardClan warriors, cats were still seriously wounded, with some dead by the end of the conflict. Icestar and Flamestar both lost lives in the battle, fighting viciously to come out victorious. But Flamestar was not foolish; she had sent as many cats as she could to flee to the SkyClan camp, and managed to escape herself before LeopardClan truly won the battle. Unfortunately, the deputy Swallowstripe and medicine cat Meadowlark were trapped, forced to remain behind, and those WindClan cats who fled were forced to live as refugees in the SkyClan camp.
Both Mapledream and Icestar were quite smug about the relatively easy victory over WindClan, and they immediately promised the LeopardClan cats that SkyClan would be next. While Meadowlark was permitted to remain as a medicine cat, Icestar stripped Swallowstripe of her deputy position, as she had not joined willingly, and appointed no new leader of WindClan. He would take on that duty personally to avoid any potential for betrayal. Flamestar was still alive as well, which meant he would still have to deal with her and her exiles, and most likely at the gathering. Icestar was careful to only bring WindClan cats with family still in LeopardClan to the gatherings, to blackmail them and prevent any attempts to defect. And, by bringing WindClan cats, he would constantly rub Flamestar's nose in her defeat.
It wasn't long after LeopardClan had won the battle against WindClan and had absorbed the defeated group into their ranks that Willowstar seemed to decide that she had had enough. Willowstar had never wanted to be ThunderClan's leader, personally, and with the ongoing distress caused ThunderClan's suffering, and the birth of her kits, she announced that she was returning to the rank of warrior, much to the shock of the ThunderClan cats. There were several long moments when every cat seemed to wonder what would happen next; would ThunderClan receive a new leader or be left to Icestar's bidding? But the ThunderClan deputy Hollypool was determined to go to the Moonpool and reaffirm ThunderClan's independence, receiving her nine lives and her leader name Hollystar. But that was not all she received. At her leadership ceremony, she met Lichenstar, Icestar's predecessor, and was given a warning, as well as a secret. This secret held the potential end LeopardClan, but it could not be shared until LeopardClan attacked SkyClan. Solemnly, Hollystar agreed to break the news to the Clans, and to put a stop to this all.
The gathering following Hollystar's leader ceremony, Icestar gave his warning to SkyClan, and to the remaining WindClan cats. He warned them that they were at their deadline to join LeopardClan, and that attack would be the next option. And, with the force of four Clans closing in on one, the outcome was almost inevitable. All the same, Coalstar refuted the offer, defying LeopardClan and Icestar yet again. Icestar and his massive Clan left the gathering, with the grim promise of war in the air.
Icestar fulfilled his promise only a few days later bringing masses of LeopardClan cats - cats from ShadowClan, RiverClan, ThunderClan, and WindClan to bear down on SkyClan and the exiled WindClan cats. Frostedstar were in the fight as well, alongside their warriors. Coalstar and Flamestar rallied their forces, despite being dramatically outnumbered. There was vicious fighting on both sides, and cats fell to their wounds rapidly, building up on both sides. Icestar was hunting for Coalstar specifically, ready to kill him to kill the last real LeopardClan opponent, and killing SkyClan's refusal of ShadowClan's rights for all, but Coalstar would not go down without taking Icestar with him. Their battle was feral.
But in the thick of the fight, Hollystar was waiting, aware that this was the end of LeopardClan, and that she had to wait for the right moment. The scene seemed lit up in an unnatural way to the black leader, and at last, she saw what she was looking for ... Icestar had pinned Coalstar and had a paw raised for a killing blow, and behind them both was Lichenstar, meeting Hollystar's gaze. At once, Hollystar sprang forward and yowled so loud it sounded like the sky had split open. Cats eyes, mostly inadvertently, swiveled towards her as she sprang at Icestar, yowling the secret she knew. That Icestar had murdered Lichenstar. The moment her words left her mouth, a frozen silence ripped through the clearing. At once, ShadowClan had turned on their leader, disgusted by his past crimes, and his binding on the other Clans were broken. It was the moment LeopardClan died.
The fighting ceased, with Icestar outnumbered, as well as his followers. The battle had suddenly turned into a tribunal, and Icestar was facing punishment. It was determined that he could no longer be trusted to live around the lake, to be leader of ShadowClan, to even be a warrior. The disgraced leader was sentenced to exile, which Icestar had jeeringly promised he would return from. A small group of ShadowClan warriors, and even a few warriors from other Clans, rallied around Icestar, and joined him in exile. LeopardClan was now a Clan of rogues, not warriors. Flamestar could return home to WindClan. Coalstar could live free of threat of attack. And Frostedstar and Hollystar were free to lead their Clans again.
The five Clans lived on. Peace had returned.
And peace had returned for several seasons, as the five Clans recovered. Things were finally as they were meant to be. But, Icestar was a cat who was always intent on fulfilling his darkest promises. He and the remaining LeopardClan warriors returned to the camp one day, after many seasons, battle ready and claiming that he was still a leader with his name and lives. Goldenstar, his replacement, had not been granted nine lives, for Icestar still lived, and stepped down without a fight. In a quiet hush, Icestar had retaken the lake, ShadowClan cats unable to fight off their rule. They would have to wait for Icestar's death to be free of his rule. This news was not kindly met at the next gathering, with threats made to make sure Icestar would not plan on reigniting his plans for LeopardClan.
ShadowClan and the other four Clans had only a few moons to bear under Icestar's return to power. His body was found, heavily mutilated by a patrol on ShadowClan's territory, the scent of Yijiao lingering in the air. It seemed he had been assassinated, though the ShadowClan cats did not know what reason the rogues would assassinate a Clan leader. But, it gave the same reason to celebrate - ShadowClan was free at last. Mapledream, Icestar's deputy, became leader, granted nine lives and a name from StarClan, assuring ShadowClan that she was the choice to make them strong again. In the right way.
LeopardClan had truly ended.

GHOSTS NEVER DIE
After the era of LeopardClan, Icestar's return to power, and his subsequent death, peace has largely returned to the lake. While most of the Clans celebrate this, there are a few cats, both living and dead, who still feel the Clans are being steered in the wrong direction. And, some shadowy spirits are eager to help the Clans put things right in the way of living warriors - their successors if you will. These cats are learning from the history of cats past, and learning from their mistakes before they take their turn at leaving their mark around the lake.

AFRAID OF THE DARK
Cats have been going missing outside of the Clan territories. Loners and rogues, turning up dead. Mangled. It's as though a fox or badger has been on the hunt, but there are rumors - they say there's a massive cat in the shadows. They say he's always watching, waiting for his chance to kill those who wander too far. They say he's ferocious. Unstoppable. They say... Noir seems immortal. But it can't be true, can it? Even the mightiest warriors die one day. Still, Noir seems to defy nature, and those who survive an encounter with him are left with more questions than answers.
