AM I ELIGIBLE FOR A HIGH RANK?
DEPUTY
MEDICINE CAT
THE APPLICATION PROCESS
So I see you're curious on how to squeeze one of your characters into a high ranking position. Well, there's plenty of variety on the site, each with different rules and procedures on how to find yourself in the position, but all have some similar rules on how to become the rank, and how to keep them. Yes, keep in mind that if you don't follow all these rules, you might not get to keep this position, so take it seriously!LEADER
001 | If a position is not listed as open, you may not apply for it. This includes medicine cats who do not have apprentices, and are not seeking them. Leaders are succeeded by their deputies, and medicine cats by their apprentices, which means these two positions will rarely, if ever, be open. When deputy and medicine cat apprentice positions are opened, members should complete the bio of the character they want to apply with and then directly message the leader or medicine cat's user to apply for the position. When we have one or more applications, staff and either the leader or medicine cat's roleplayer will pick the cat they feel is the best fit. Also, anyone caught badgering and/or harassing a member to get a position will automatically be disqualified, and possibly banned.
002 | You may be picked for a high rank based on two aspects: member activity and the character in question. A leader will pick a worthy cat to succeed them as deputy, and a medicine cat will pick a talented cat to train. However, if you are a member who has only been on for a week, and has ten posts, you will not be under consideration. There is no set time limit or post limit that determines eligibility, it is simply when that member has proven themselves to meet the requirements of loyalty, activity, and character. Any user who proves they're here to stick around and play some cats will be open to consideration.
003 | Any high rank must be active on a very regular basis. A member who has a character in a high rank should be on at least once or twice a week, and that's on the low end of what is acceptable. If you cannot maintain your activity, you will not be eligible for a high rank, or if your eligibility drops and does not return to standard, you will be removed from the high rank.
004 | There are set limits for how many high ranks a member may play, and this number is always changing to give all members a fair chance at a high rank. The current number is 5 high ranks, or more with staff permission. [This number may fluctuate if there are not enough active and/or interested parties to fill in the high ranks.]
001 | Leaders become leaders after they were appointed deputy and their leader dies or retires. This means that, as of our steady canon where we have all our ranks filled, we will not have open leader positions. If you would like your cat to be leader one day, please read up on the duties of deputies.
002 | In every Clan and group, the leaders are responsible for leading their Clans into battle, handling major Clan issues, and, as a roleplayer, preforming ceremonies. Every age up, there is a chance you might have a ceremony to preform, for apprentices, for kits, for any cat at all. This means you must be on and posting at least once per age up.
003 | Clan leaders are the cats who take their Clans to the island for the gathering every month. Leaders alternate turns starting the gatherings, listing down from ThunderClan, RiverClan, ShadowClan, WindClan, and SkyClan, before repeating the cycle again. The leader for each cycle must begin that gathering, but every leader must attend the gathering, and make announcements of major events and ceremonies that happened in their Clan in the past month, or the past age up or two to help make things simple. Because of this, leaders are mandated to post twice: once for their Clan's arrival, and once for their announcements.
004 | If there are plots that involve an entire Clan, leaders are always involved, and will lead their Clans in times of peril, or into battle. If your Clan or group has been selected for one of these plots, you must be active enough to play a substantial role in the plot. Leaders discuss agreements with each other, strategize with their deputy, and give the commands on when to begin the battle and when to end it. Plots can occur at any time, so sporadic activity is not an end-all, cure-all.
DEPUTY
001 | Deputies may be selected when a Clan or group's former deputy has died, retired, or becomes the leader, and will open no sooner. On our site, deputies are picked by the user who plays the leader, and submits their decision to staff. The decision is almost always approved, but there may be cases where the deputy candidate is denied and the leader is told to pick again. Do not pressure a leader to pick your cat, or you will be automatically disqualified from the running.
002 | Any cat who wants to be eligible for a deputy position must have mentored at least one apprentice.
003 | Clan deputies are responsible for arranging the monthly patrols, assigning cats and members to each listing. Clan deputies have to be on regularly enough to assign these patrols as well as manage them, and make sure each member has a regular enough rotation.
004 | If a leader is unavailable for any reason, it is up to the deputy to fulfill their basic duties until they return or are replaced. In these cases, a deputy will be needed to perform the Clan ceremonies for each age up, and make the announcements at the gatherings. This applies for leaders who are missing, too ill to preform their duties, or if the members who play leaders are away temporarily (such as in the middle of an announced vacation), and will be unable to preform their duties.
MEDICINE CAT
001 | Medicine cats are established characters who have trained with a mentor and been promoted to medicine cat status by death or retirement of their mentor. It is the decision of each medicine cat when they would like to take on an apprentice. If a medicine cat is seeking an apprentice in the High Rank header or in the Clan trackers, they will seek out a kit or apprentice, and sometimes even a warrior, to succeed them. Otherwise, medicine cats will handle all duties on their own. If you have a cat who you think would be a good medicine cat apprentice, and there is a medicine cat seeking an apprentice, please message that user directly to apply.
002 | Medicine cats are required to post in response to cats appearing in their dens for a medical reason, which can be one post or several. Medicine cats are also needed when a cat is kitting, though many users will simply mention the medicine cats' name without waiting for the member to arrive. However, because medicine cat den problems can happen at any time, medicine cats must be around regularly, so they can be around to pull a thorn from a kit's paw or give a warrior medicine for the rat bite they received. The same is true for medicine cat apprentices at all stages of training.
003 | By tradition, medicine cats meet every half-moon to journey to the moonpool. Though the site medicine cat meetings are not quite so frequent, they are mandated for all medicine cat and medicine cat apprentices to attend. This is one option for a medicine cat to receive a message from StarClan.
THE APPLICATION PROCESS
001 | Ready to apply for the high rank? Whether you are applying for a deputy or medicine cat apprentice (or perhaps a Vice in Yijiao or Lieutenant role in Viperion), you will need to message the user who plays the high rank above you to apply. Every user may ask for something different, but it is generally best advised to send your character's name, basic information, and why they would be a good fit for the role. You may message the user above you for your application on DoT, or on our Discord server. If you get no reply to your application, please reach out to a staff member to make sure it was received.
